Why study doctrine? The Bible is the standard by which we pattern our lives. The word of God is a lamp to our feet and light unto our path according to the Psalmist. There is no better place to find the will of God but in the Word of God. The following ten truths make up the Statement of Faith of Life Church. We are not an elite church. Elitism has no place in the Body of Christ. We are only one of the many God called fellowships and churches consisting of saved Christian believers. 1 Timothy 4:16
#1 The Scriptures
The Bible is the inspired Word of God and is accepted as the infallible guide in matters pertaining to conduct and doctrine.
2 Timothy 3:16, 1 Thessalonians 2:13, 2 Peter 2:21
#2 The Godhead
Our God is One, but manifested in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit being co-equal.
The Father : John 14:28, Mark 14:35-36, John 1:14
The Son: John 1:1, John 1:14, John 1:18, Philippians 2:6
The Holy Spirit: John 15.26, John 16;1-9
#3 Man, the Fall of Man, and Redemption
Man is a created being, made in the likeness and image of God, but through Adam.s transgression and fall, sin came into the world. Romans 5:12, Romans 3:10, Romans 3:23, 1John 3:8, Ephesians 2:10.
#4 The New Birth and Resulting Eternal Life
Man.s first step toward salvation is godly sorrow that produces repentance. The new birth, necessary to all men, when fulfilled, produces Eternal Life.
2Corinthians 7:10, 1John 5:12, John 3:3-5.
#5 Water Baptism
Baptism in water is typically by emersion and is a direct commandment of our Lord for believers. This sacrament is a symbol of the Christian.s identification with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection and is the answer of a good conscience toward God .Matthew 28:19, Romans 6:4, Colossians 2:12, Acts 8:36-39, 1Peter 3:21.
#6 Baptism in the Holy Spirit
The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is a gift from God as promised by the Lord Jesus Christ to believers and is received subsequent or after the new birth. The initial evidence of speaking in other tongues accompanies this experience. Acts 2:4, Matthew 3:11, John 14:16-17, Acts, 1:8, Acts 2:38-39, Acts 2:4, Acts 19:1-7.
Sanctification is a definite, yet progressive work of grace, commencing at the time of regeneration (new birth) and continuing throughout your Christian walk.
Hebrews 12:14, 1Thessalonians 5:23, 2Peter 3:18, 2 Corinthians 3:18, Philippians 3:12-14, 1 Corinthians 1:30.
#8 Divine Healing
Divine Healing is provided for in the atonement of Christ, and is the privilege of every believer. Healing was wrought by the power of God through the prayer of faith and laying on of hands. Healing for the body is God.s will and is evidenced by the body.s own programming to heal itself. As Christians, we are not .against doctors or medical science.. We urge every Christian to seek God and prayer as a first source of healing. In the time of sickness, don.t make prayer a last resort. Mark 16:15-18, James 5:14-16, 1Peter 2:24, Matthew 8:17. However the scriptures assure us that we have been saved from the wrath to come. 1 Thessalonians 1:10.
#10 Hell and Eternal Retribution
The Bible has much to say about hell. In fact, Hell, was a topic of many of the Lord.s sermons. Hell was never originally intended as a place of abode for man, but was constructed as a prison for the devil and his angels. Having no further hope of hearing the Gospel or of repentance, physical death without Christ is punishable by eternal damnation in the lake of fire. There is a Heaven to gain, and a Hell to shun. Hebrews 9:27, Revelation 20:15, Revelation 21:8.
